Wordless Wednesday: Christmasy

Uuuummm, hello there! Sorry, things have been suuuupppper quiet around here! I was just a tad bit busy soaking up the holidays with my family......I hope you were too!
I'm here to dump a ton of Christmas-like photos at ya, and then I'm going to go spend more time with  my little family! I have this whole week off of work, and while I thought that would mean I would be able to catch up on blogging and other odds and ends, I'm really just spending all of my spare time hanging out with Ellie, shopping, eating, and trying to find the floor underneath the wrapping paper and cardboard boxes! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and I can't wait to catch up with all the interwebz happenings very soon!

The only family picture we managed to get through ALL of the festivities!

Her gloves were clipped to her jacket, but she took them off and switched hands......kinda like toddler handcuffs ;)

 We bribed her with candy....

I swear she was having fun!

I love the still of Christmas morning before anyone else wakes up!

 She even liked the clothes.

 Best present of all time!

Or maybe this is the best present of all time?!

Again, she was having a blast......you just can't tell from her expression ;)

Whoa! The girl made out all right this Christmas! (and her birthday is less than a month away!!)

A happy belated Christmas to you, dear readers! I look forward to a new year and fresh starts!

Wordless Wednesday: Gingerbread

I feel like I should write a lot to go with these photos, because tonight was one of those magical nights that I want to remember forever.
Scott was being pleasant, helpful, and just plain fun to be around.
Elliott was also pleasant, as well as cute, funny, and not throwing tantrums at every turn (in fact, no tantrums were thrown in the making of this Gingerbread House).

Tonight was how I picture every perfect and cozy holiday tradition to be.
But since they won't always be this glorious or cute, I think I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves.

Happy Wednesday!

Christmas Card

I know I've shared a few pictures as teasers of what our Christmas Cards would look like. I ordered cards from Tiny Prints, and I couldn't be more happy with how they turned out!
But short of scanning and copying them, I can't find a good way to share our finished product with you (unless you're one of the lucky ones who got one in the mail ;)
So, I came up with a cute little edit.....thank goodness for predesigned layouts, or else this is what we would have been sending out for cards this year:

But then again, maybe this would have gotten my point across a little better?
You see, I wanted our cards to be funny. I just wanted to bring a light-heartedness to our cards this year, and I'm not sure I succeeded. I think that some people may have missed the joke because of the understated way in which we presentd our silly photos.
I mean, I'm not the funniest person that's ever lived, so I can understand if people were a bit confused or skeptical when they saw our Christmas cards this year.

For those of you who got the joke.....you're awesome.
And for those of you who weren't quite laughing it up.....just you wait until next year.
It's official. This family is going to be a funny-Christmas-card family.
I'm already scheming ideas for next year's card, and I can't wait!

Merry Christmas, y'all!

Flashback Friday: Santa!!

With our little family of three, we have been making great efforts to build solid family traditions. While sometimes this gets expensive on our small-family-budget, I think it's totally worth it.
One day, I'll look back on ten year's worth of Santa Pictures, and they will be worth far more than the money we spent each year.
Already looking back on just our first year of Santa photos, and my heart is overwhelmed.
I love seeing how much Elliott has grown and changed, and so many memories come rushing back to me as I flip through the photos. Here's a little recap and comparison......really just a photo dump from last year's Santa trip, and then this year's!

2010

At 11 months old, Ellie didn't mind sitting on Santa's lap at all!
This Santa was SO sweet! I'm bummed we missed him this year....
Ellie was really intrigued by the "snow" last year at snowflake lane.

2011

Things started off okay with our 22 month old.....

Until we put her on Santa's lap! Poor girl!

We cheered her up with snowflake lane, where she seemed just as fascinated as last year!

Wordless Wednesday: Hey, Cupcake!

One of our Christmas traditions involves Santa, Snow, and Cupcakes!
Aren't you jealous?
This was our second year of getting Santa pictures at Nordstrom's, eating dinner at the Cheesecake factory (where I forego dessert because I'm holding out for cupcakes!), watching the festivities at Snowflake Lane, and picking up some fancy Cupcakes to devour later!
I look forward to this day the most when I think of Christmas time.
It's something I hope to always do with my little family.

This year, Elliott got her own cupcake.

I think these two (and their cupcake) are just about the cutest things ever!
