Steppin' Out: Momma and Me Style

This weekend was a Momma and Me weekend! I used to call it Single Mom Weekend (the one weekend a month when Scott goes away to National Guard), but I'm just not liking the sound of that. I think Momma and Me Weekend sounds much better :) After all, I do what I can to soak up as much time with Ellie as possible.....it makes the weekend go faster for both of us! Right now I'm anxious to have my husband back, and I know Ellie is just waiting to tackle him when he walks through that door!

I finally took some pictures for a Steppin' Out post, although you'll have to bear with me since they're all mirror photos (no hubby this weekend, remember?). But first, I want to share with you my little makeover!!

I like to call this Momma and Me Weekend Mini Mom Makeover!
My hair had been growing out for far too long, and Friday night I finally got sick of it! (OK, well I had been sick of it for a while, but I didn't want to spend the money to get my highlights touched up and to get it cut, so I just kept putting it off. I've felt like poo about myself for a while now because I just keep letting it go.) So after Elliott went to bed, I cracked open a box of hair dye, and pulled out the scissors and gave myself a little makoever!
I felt a little crazy and impulsive while I was cutting my hair. I kept thinking to myself "this isn't good. Amanda, you're gonna mess it up somehow". But you know what?! I think that $6 box of Clairol and those kitchen scissors were just what I needed!

Yep, I used kitchen scissors to cut my hair!! AND, I didn't even use a mirror when trimming the back! There's a few little spots in the back that are a little uneven, but other than that I think I did a pretty good job! I fixed the urge I had, and I got a fresh new look for about $120 less than it would normally cost me! The color in these photos is horrible, but you get the idea :) I went from mostly blonde to a nice light, chocolatey brown. And I love it!
Feeling pretty good about the new 'do

Now, on to our Steppin' Out pictures. Let me just say, Elliott is ready for Steppin' Out every. Single. Day. Seriously, she has so many clothes, and I am in love with all of them!! It's me who is the lazy bum and doesn't want to get all dolled up for anything!

Well, lately I've been trying to work on that. I finally have clothes that fit well, and I've picked up a few cute pieces lately that have inspired me to dress less like a 12-year-old and more like the 20-something energetic mom that I am!

So here's us, on our way to church this morning......

Elliott
Sweater: Old Navy
Dress: Old Navy
Tights: Target
Shoes: Laura Ashley (TJ Maxx)
Bow: Target

Me

Polka Dot Blouse: TJ Maxx

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!! I'm dreading gearing up for another Monday!!
