So I might be addicted......to cloth diapering.
(My stash. Flips, gDiapers, Bum Genious, Happy Heiny's, Thirsties, and more!)
I took a break last weekend (I had a long five day weekend, and I just wanted to be a little lazy, so I used disposables), but I can say that I am still devoted to my cloth diapers. We've been using them (and collecting new styles) since Ellie was just a few months old, and we've made to her one year mark! I'm hoping to have her potty trained by 18 months.....although I know that's a lofty goal, so let's just say I'd be happy if she's done with diapers by age 2 :) Either way, at least I know that we won't have to be buying diapers each month, since we can make it quite a bit longer with the cloth diapers I have already collected. Most of them are "one-size", and each time I use one I know that I'm saving at least the cost of one disposable diaper. Usually that's enough motivation to keep me going.
Honestly, they're not that much work! I do 2-3 loads of diapers a week, but it's not like doing a typical load of laundry. There's no sorting or folding, and it only takes a few minutes of my time to start a load, hang up the covers, and put the rest in the dryer.
I've purchased disposable diapers lately, because some days it just seems easier.....but when I look at the cost of those puppies, it's just not worth it!! Like I said, it's just a few minutes to wash the cloth diapers, while we can run through a $10 pack of disposables in less than a week!! I'm not going to do the math for you, because honestly there's lots of blogs and websites out there where you can find that information.....but I do know that cloth diapering has saved us money. It's also pretty fun to try out new diapers and see all the cute prints and colors they have now. Maybe I'm a nerd, but I get excited about that kind of stuff :)
Thanks for listening to me go on and on about my obsession with cloth diapers! I try not to talk about it all the time because I realize it's not the most interesting topic for most people, but I just have to get it out every once in a while! And, if you ever have questions about cloth diapers, you now know who to ask ;)
