Wordless Wednesday: Small Changes

While this pregnancy is still in it's early stages, I figure it's never to early to start preparing for our new family member. I feel like the biggest changes and adjustments will be happening with Ellie and between her and her new sibling. Scott and I will adjust and life will go on. For Elliott, because she's little and independent and can't comprehend it all, I want to make the transition for her as easy as possible.

One of the biggest physical changes for her will be switching bedrooms around. Since her nursery is a neutral color and it's closest to our bedroom, it will remain a nursery for the new baby. The crib (Ellie's current toddler bed) and the rest of her furniture will simply stay in that room. While transitioning to a new room might be a big shock, I hope to make it easier on her by making the switch well in advance of baby's arrival, and by including Ellie on the fun parts like picking out new sheets and creating artwork for the walls.

We've only just started, but this is the comforter I picked out for her new big girl bed:
I love it because it's simple, yet bright and fun. It should be pretty easy to coordinate with, and we could use almost any color in her room that we want!

My first idea to go along with the comforter was letting Elliott paint some canvases for her new room. I picked a sunny day, stripped her down to her underwear,
and let her just go for it!

The finished products look pretty good!

As far as furniture and the rest of the decor for Elliott's new big girl room go, I really have no idea! But I do know that this is going to be a gradual transition, so we have some time. I can't wait to see it all come together!

I love the bright colors! I've been wanting to make some art with Dane like that. Where did you get the canvasses and what kind of paint?

I am jealous of that comforter. I ended up with a similar one but it's just stripes not chevron.
